  William E. Davis
William E Davis was born on March 17, 1919, in Queens, New York, to Florence Lillian Eiermann, age 25, and Russell Joseph Davis, age 25. In Rye his family lived at 26 Lyndon Street and were members of the Presbyterian Church. William was an all-around athlete at Rye High School and was graduated with the class of 1936. He was graduated from Hamilton College in 1940 and was a member of Sigma Phi Fraternity. He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
During World War II he served as a lieutenant in the Navy aboard the cruiser, USS Brooklyn, and saw action in the Mediterranean during the invasion of Italy.

Following the Naval Battle of Casablanca Brooklyn departed Casablanca for the east coast on 17 November 1942. From January–July 1943, she made three convoy escort voyages between the east coast and Casablanca and then steamed to the Mediterranean where she carried out screening and fire support duties during the invasion of Sicily (10–14 July).
Remaining in the Mediterranean, Brooklyn next covered the Anzio-Nettuno landings (22 January – 9 February 1944), also known as Operation Shingle. From 13 to 23 May, she participated in the bombardment of the Formia-Anzio area and then carried out exercises in preparation for the invasion of southern France.
 On 15 August, Brooklyn furnished part of the heavy naval gunfire which preceded the landing of Allied troops on the coast of southern France. She remained on duty in the Mediterranean until 21 November, when she departed Sicily for New York, arriving on 30 November.
William E. Davis Promoted To Lieutenant In Naval Reserve
William K. Davis, 26, of 26 Lyndon Street, Rye, has been promoted to Lieutenant, U. S. N. R. . Lieut. Davis as been serving aboard a cruiser in the Atlantic Fleet for twenty-nine months. He participated In the invasions of Sicily, Anzio, and southern France. His ship covered the landings of our troops by bombarding enemy shore installations and troop concentrations. A graduate of Hamilton College, he was with the Connecticut General Life Insurance Co. , of Hartford, before entering the Navy. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell J. Davis, formerly of Rye, are living in Washington, DC. They have two other sons in the service, Richard and Donald, both in the Army overseas. Lieut. Davis is married to the former Katherine Wyman. Daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Phillips Wyman of Scarborough, N. Y. They have one son. Michael, 18 months

William E. Davis, thirty four, of Briarcliff, a former Rye resident, died April 9, 1953 at the New York Hospital. He was a nephew of Mrs. Roy E. Julie of Blind Brook Lodge.
In addition to his parents and his aunt, William was survived by his wife, the former Kathrine Wyman; two sons, Mark and Michael; two daughters, Wendy and Laurie; and two brothers Richard and Donald Davis.
Funeral services were held at the Briarcliff Presbyterian Church.
